"FIELDS OF GLORY": INSIDE THE TSA-CLUBHOUSE.

As stated by Willie in his introduction, the TSA-clubhouse (with enough outside space to park our cars safely) is one of the association's main assets. The fact that we do not have to share the building and its facilities with anybody else creates an enormous amount of freedom for our members: games can span several sessions (weeks or even months) without the need to clear the tables after each night of battling; an important gain of valuable gaming-time! Apart from that, we also have a secure storage-room for terrain pieces and such, as well as our own private bar. What more can one wish for?...
Every Fridaynight we say goodbye to our loved ones, pick up our essential gear and take off to war. Club nights start at 7.30 – 8.00 pm and may last until very late in the evening (or till early next morning...). As if that wasn't enough we decided to give the true fanatics another chance to have a go at it. Every second Saturday of the month we're open from 12.00 am till late afternoon, early evening. The pictures below were taken during an average Fridaynight session. It's a rare occasion when less than 15 games are being played simultaniously. It is difficult to give an exact breakdown in % of the members' interests (since a number of historical miniature-gamers are also boardgamers or fantasy-buffs etc), but is is safe to state that (with well over 100 members) 50% are historical miniature gamers, 20% boardgamers and 30% fantasy-gamers.

TSA is well organised: we do not only play wargames, but take care of the generals' other needs as well: these ladies (and others) see to the bar (food & drinks).
TSA is op alle gebied goed georganiseerd: naast wargames hebben wij ook oog voor uw andere noden: deze dames (o.a.) staan in voor de bar (eten & drinken).
Opmerking: TSA is een vzw: het lokaal is enke lpermanent toegankelijk voor leden en is geen commerciële horecazaak!

Zoals Willie reeds bij zijn inleiding vermeldde is het TSA-clublokaal (met ruime parking) één van de belangrijkste verworvenheden van de vereniging. Het feit dat wij het gebouw niet met anderen moeten delen schept enorme mogelijkheden: spellen kunnen weken verder lopen zonder de noodzaak telkens weer alles te moeten opstellen en afbreken; een belangrijke tijdwinst! Daarnaast beschikken wij ook over een veilig magazijn om de spulletjes op te bergen en... een eigen bar (enkel voor leden). Wat kun je meer wensen?
Elke vrijdagavond nemen wij afscheid van onze geliefden, trekken onze wapenrusting aan en vliegen er in. Clubavonden starten om 19.30-20.00u en kunnen wel eens uitlopen (maar dat is ieder voor zich...). Voor de échte fanatici is het lokaal tevens elke tweede zaterdag van de maand open vanaf 12.00u tot de late namiddag of vroege avond. De foto's hieronder werden genomen tijdens een doorsnee clubmeeting. Het is zelden dat er op zo'n bijeenkomst minder dan 15 spellen te gelijkertijd lopen. Het is moeilijk om het ledenaantal exact in interessegroepen in te delen (sommigen zijn uiteraard in verschillende aspecten van de hobby geïnteresseerd), maar (met meer dan 100 leden) kunnen wij stellen dat ongeveer 50% historische-, 20% bord- en 30% fantasyspelers de hechte TSA-groep vormen.

Where can you find us ??? - Waar vindt U ons?
Well it’s fairly simple, we are based at the

Leugenberg 187 - Hoevenen (Belgium), where we meet every fridaynight.

Actually, it's pretty straightforward to get there. Just follow the A12 (starting from the Antwerp ringroad, direction "Bergen-op-Zoom") until you reach the exit "Hoevenen". Exit the A12 there. Turn right at the traffic-lights at the end of the way out. You are in the "Leugenberg" now. After crossing a second set of traffic-lights you will see a JET gasstation on your left. About 150 meters further down the road you have to turn left (into a small, narrow street - see picture to the right). Should you happen to pass the ESSO gasstation on your right, it’s time to turn back, because you have just missed the entrance to the little street where we are based. Hope to see you soon!

Ons lokaal is gemakkelijk te bereiken: rij via de Antwerpse ring naar de A12 richting Bergen-op-Zoom en neem op de A12 de afrit "Hoevenen". Op het eind van de afrit staan verkeerslichten; sla hier rechts af. 200 m verder zijn er opnieuw verkeerslichten met aan uw rechterzijde een Texaco-station. Rij hier rechtdoor. 100 m verder is aan uw linkerzijde een JET-station en nog eens 100 verder is er een smalle weg (links), bijna vlak tegenover het beeld van een reuze koi (vis). Rij dit weggetje (zie foto hiernaast) in en u vindt ons clublokaal aan het eind ervan. Rij op de hoofdweg niet voorbij het ESSO-station, want dan bent u reeds 100 m voorbij ons straatje. Wij hopen van ganser harte u spoedig te mogen verwelkomen!



Wij trekken in ons lokaal ten strijde:
- elke vrijdagavond vanaf 18.30u;
- elke tweede zaterdag van de maand vanaf 12u
(tot in de late namiddag);
- bij speciale gelegenheden.
Wanneer kerst of nieuwjaar op een vrijdag vallen zijn wij gesloten.

Sometimes there is more talk than gaming going on, but that is all part of the fun.

Er wordt vaak meer gepalaberd dan gespeeld, maar ook dat maakt deel uit van de hobby.
"Boardgamers do it strategically", carefully moving their counters on the map. In the back: more boxes with terrain-tiles.
"Bordspelers doen het strategisch" en verplaatsen met zorg hun pionnen op de kaart. Achter in beeld: nog meer kartons met terreintegels.
Things do not always have to be spectacular or grand: these guys are having a lot of fun with small-scale gladiatorial combat.
Het hoeft niet altijd allemaal groots te zijn: deze heren amuseren zich kostelijk met een gladiatorengevecht op kleine schaal.
Last - but not least: "the "Painting Alley" were some find a quiet spot to paint their armies and all can profit from the experience of fellow-clubmembers.
Tot slot (maar niet onbelangrijk): "het Schilderstraatje" waar sommigen een rustige hoekje vinden om hun figuurtjes te schilderen. Hier kunnen ervaringen uitgewisseld worden.

Thanks for doing that. I have also linked back to your club site from the Valeur et Discipline Links page. I took another look at your site last night, and was VERY impressed. That WW2 game looked most impressive (and I am not even a fan of 20th century wargaming!).But what I found especially interesting was your clubrooms. How do you support such a magnificent facility with only 100 members? And even a bar!!!
